Hoy he empezado el día con una mala noticia en el ámbito familiar. No me encuentro con muchas ganas de hacer nada, pero hay algunas cosas que ayudan a que te suba un poco la moral. Sea un ejemplo la música de buen rollo:

Aquí los compañeros del metal se han currado un maquetón de padre y muy señor mío, en el que soy testigo de los largos ratos de trabajo que han invertido. Y se nota. Al igual que Chema, yo también voy a hacer una recomendación: “Por 5 puntos”. El tema es un clasicazo por lo divertido y lo fuerte que se te pega. Los que hayáis tenido el privilegio de oir la versión acústica (¿para cúando un Yebouna Unplujt?) ya sabéis a lo que me refiero, y la versión oficial es, si cabe, aún mejor.

No puedo hacer otra cosa que recomendar que eschéis la maqueta. El material es tan bueno como la gente que lo ha hecho, y eso es decir mucho: tengo el honor de haber compartido cartel con el grupo, e incluso escenario con alguno de sus miembros, y son gente de primera dentro y fuera de las tablas.

Lo dicho. Buena música y gratis… ¿a qué estáis esperando?

En esta ocasión el otro artista que acompaña a Satriani [wiki] y Vai es John Petrucci [wiki] (que toca con Mike Portnoy [wiki], su compañero en Dream Theater [wiki], y Dave LaRue, guitarra habitual de la Steve Morse Band).

Por el momento parece que los madrileños (al menos los vagos que no nos desplazamos para los conciertos) nos quedaremos sin ver a Arch Enemy [wiki] en esta gira:

Finnish rocker VILLE VALO matured his singing voice by smoking a staggering 100 cigarettes a day.

The HIM frontman credits the phenomenally unhealthy habit with the way he sounds – but admits he has had to cut back a little recently.

Valo, 28, says, “I’m down to 60 cigarettes a day now. It used to be more than 100. The more you smoke the better your voice gets. Guitarists have wah wah pedals to make them sound better. I have fags.”

Todo un ejemplo a seguir, ¿no?

En los últimos días ha habido una sucesión de noticias sobre la colaboración de Dio [wiki] con Tony Iommi [wiki] para el proyecto “Black Sabbath ? The Dio Years”. Esta colaboración, anunciada por el propio Dio en el programa “Masters of Rock” de la BCC Radio 2 (se puede volver a escuchar el programa), disparó los rumores de la continuación de Black Sabbath con Dio como cantante, extremo que ha sido desmentido categóricamente:

Ronnie is not rejoining Black Sabbath. He’s very happy with his own band and will be touring festivals next year with Dio, NOT Ozzfest. The writing project is just something that may happen between Tony and Ronnie if they have time between their own projects to write one or two songs to be included on the ‘Black Sabbath: The Dio Years’ box set.

Por otro lado, a día de hoy, no se sabe si Doug Aldrich [wiki] remplazará permanentemente al lesionado Craig Goldy como guitarrista del grupo de Dio (como recogía Blabbermouth.net hace poco), tal como se señala la página web oficial del grupo:

It seems we jumped the gun a bit with the announcement of Doug Aldrich’s rejoining Dio permanently. In speaking with Wendy Dio, we learned from her in fact, “we (DIO) are in talks with him about the POSSIBILITY of his joining the band permanently.”

We will keep you posted on what develops with this situation.

The first press reactions are superb and I feel not playing it close to the chest was the best thing we could have done. It?s still Edguy at any second, it?s funny here and melancholic there, fast and slow and really diversified. You?ll hear ?ROCKET RIDE? on January, 20th. And the first part of the tour is booked too. A modo de curiosidad, un día después de publicar esta “noticia”, Tuomas Holopainen, el teclista y compositor del material de Nightwish, publicó una carta abierta a Tarja Turunen en la página web oficial del grupo, comunicando el despido de la vocalista. Dado que la única canción que me gusta de este grupo es la versión de “Over the Hills and Far Away” de Gary Moore [wiki] (me recuerda a la original) tampoco me va a quitar el sueño.

La de arriba es una de las fotos de la visita que Steven Seagal [wiki] realizó a la fábrica de Gibson [wiki]. Mr. Seagal una vez dijo:

TRIVIUM Frontman: ‘I Wouldn’t Dare Throw Anything At IRON MAIDEN’

In the latest issue of Metal Hammer, TRIVIUM‘s Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu discuss the Ozzfest debacle in San Bernardino which culminated in IRON MAIDEN being pelted with eggs while performing and Sharon Osbourne publicly berating the group’s lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, as “a prick.”

When TRIVIUM played in Albuquerque following the San Bernardino incident, all the bandmembers wore IRON MAIDEN shirts. It was their way of making a point. “All the bands and all the crews knew what we were trying to say,” Heafy stated.

“There were gangs of people from the bands on the second stage [where TRIVIUM also performed] trying to recruit people to throw eggs at MAIDEN. Man, I wouldn’t dare throw anything at MAIDEN, not even money. I watched them from right at the front at one show and I did everything, every gesture, that Bruce asked of the crowd. I was too afraid not to. That’s how commanding that band are, that’s the kind of presence they have. And people want me to throw eggs at them? Fuck off!”

“You should have seen those people down the front throwing shit,” added Beaulieu. “It was disgusting. I mean, Kelly Osbourne was there, and she was throwing eggs. Then I read that she said she was in London. She’s a fucking liar. She wasn’t in London, she was right there throwing shit. She couldn’t even take any responsibility for what she’d done.”

“And when we wore the MAIDEN shirts in Albuquerque, Big Dave [the PA announcer who yelled 'Ozzy! Ozzy!' over the PA during IRON MAIDEN's intro tape] just walked past us and lowered his eyes,” said Heafy. “But we had to do what we had to do. We felt we had to take a stand.”
