Japan triumphs with MP3 toilet seat

Japanese sanitary ware outfit Toto has produced what must be the last word in toilet seats – the Apricot – which, besides all the usual features the Japanese consumer expects (bum-warming facility, bidet action, automated lid, etc, etc), boasts an MP3 player with detachable remote.

As far as we can make out, the MP3s are loaded on an SD card which slips into a wall-mounted unit. The remote appears to allow the user to simultaneously edit his or her playlist while opting for a post-evacuation arse rinse. Or something like that.

A full-spec Apricot N5A goes out at a cool 180,600 yen (roughly 860 quid) and to be honest for that sort of money we’d expect it to perform bowel cancer analyses, liposuction and get the beers in while we’re enjoying an MP3 bogcast. ?

La cadena de radio Sveriges Radio P3 retransmitirá el 12 de Enero desde las 21:00 el concierto de Nightwish [wiki] en la SkyCom Arena de Umeå (Suecia) del 11 de Septiembre del año pasado. Para los que Suecia les pille un poco lejos, el concierto se podrá escuchar también usando la radio web disponible en la página de P3 Live. Para ello, sólo tendréis que pinchar en dicha página el enlace de la parte superior izquierda que pone “Webradio”, y os abrirá un pop-up, donde tendréis que seleccionar la opción “P3″.

Se fue 2005 y con él la rima fácil (aunque hay otras posibilidades válidas).

Por mis partes, nunca hago (y por tanto no voy a hacer) ni balances ni listas de propósitos. Lo que sí hago todos los años es ver el tradicional Concierto de Año Nuevo que se celebra en la Musikverein [wiki] de Viena. Este año el concierto ha estado dirigido por Mariss Jansons (un desconocido para mí), con un repertorio aceptable y una ejecución válida y relativamente personal (que bien me expreso, oiga ). Este año volvieron las gracietas (“rechifla morrocotuda” alguna de ellas, de acuerdo con José Luis Pérez de Arteaga) de ediciones anteriores (con la salvedad de la del año pasado), pero para mí las “sorpresas” estuvieron en dos de las composiciones elegidas para el programa de este año. Concretamente las dos “remezclas”: Die Mozartisten de Josef Lanner y la Künstler Quadrille de Johann Strauss. Sin ser piezas de mi agrado, se me ocurren formas peores de hacer referencia a Mozart (por el 250º aniversario de su nacimiento), aunque me gustó más la inclusión de la overtura de Die Hochzeit des Figaro.

Y no tengo que más que decir. El día que me inviten al concierto en directo ya me explayaré .
