Una canción con cierta historia.

Se aproxima la Semana Grande del Delta: 8 días con un montón de actividades para conmemorar los primeros 25 años del Club de Música de la ETSIT-UPM.

Por desgracia, previsiblemente sólo podré asistir al segundo día del Cobijo del Tema Anónimo, pero animo a todo el que pueda que se pase para disfrutar de los eventos.

Louis Prima [wiki] es la voz tras el personaje del rey Louie en “El Libro de la Selva” de Disney. También es el artífice de la famosa “Just A Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody”, de la que sólo he encontrado un vídeo cortado [02m47s] en el que canta junto a su cuarta mujer, Keely Smith.

Una de las versiones de esta composición corre a cargo de David Lee Roth [wiki], y tiene un vídeo bastante gracioso:

Los mencioné hace unos 3 meses, y ya tengo ganas de ver lo que hacen Fernando y Alicia con “Tamacun” [03m23s]. Por otro lado, parece que cada vez tienen mayor reconocimiento:

Alex Jams With Rodrigo Y Gabriela At New York´s Webster Hall

Last Monday, the amazing guitar duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela invited me to be their special guest at their sold out show at Webster Hall in NYC. It was an honor and a real treat for me. Anytime someone is influenced by your guitar playing, it is touching, but when I see what they have done with it, I am blown away. They sound like several musicians at once and have the power of a full rock band. Rodrigo’s playing is on a level of my favorite work by Al Di Meola, who was a big early influence of mine that opened me up to jazz and world music. Gabriela has developed a rhythm style that is one of the most unique I’ve heard, at times sounding like an Afro-Cuban conga player, middle eastern frame drummer or Indian tabla player while playing chords at the same time. Together they have created a whole new sound that combines the energy of metal with the grace of Spanish guitar. It is exciting to see it connecting to so many people worldwide, via sold out tours and appearances on David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel etc…They are warm, special people. We hung out for a lot of time before the show, and it feels as if I’ve known them for a long time. I look forward  to hanging/playing with them again. El “Alex” de la noticia no es ni más ni menos que Alex Skolnick (en caso de duda consulte con la Wikipedia) y creo que sus halagos son más que justificados.

Aunque soy bastante reacio a visitar páginas de MySpace, en la del dúo de guitarristas se puede escuchar la versión de “Orion” de su último disco (que sacaron hace un año), que resulta interesante. En dicho disco incluyeron también una versión del “Stairway to Heaven”, de la que hay un video en directo:

Parece que voy siguiendo los pasos del tito Rinze. Puestos a echar una mirada nostálgica hacia los contenidos televisivos que marcaron la infancia de tantos, ¿por qué no hablar del siguiente personaje?

La imagen la encontró mi hermano, dándome la excusa perfecta para meter a Mario Lopez [wiki] aquí (quien no lo pille sólo necesita hacer una búsqueda rápida para entenderlo).

Y ya que vamos a reirnos un rato y estamos inspirados por Chema (en esta ocasión por éste post), ahí va otra chorradilla: 28 day Slater.

Yo ya noto algo de pérdida de audición, y procuro decirle a todos los participantes en el curso de batería que es más que conveniente que utilicen protección auditiva. Y no lo digo yo solamente, lo dice mucha gente, entre ellos el guitarrista de Grave Digger [wiki], Manni Schmidt:

Henry Rollins [wiki] es un personaje polifacético y, por lo tanto, es conocido por distintos grupos de gente y por distintas razones. Su salto a la fama se produjo cuando se incoporó a Black Flag como cantante en 1981 y se ve que eso de estar en el “candelabro” le ha valido para hacerse unas amistades muy interesantes:

World Entertainment News Network reports that punk rock icon Henry Rollins has become an unlikely best friend of “Star Trek” star William Shatner and admits even he can’t believe the match-up is for real. The former BLACK FLAG frontman collaborated with Shatner when the actor recorded an album, “Has Been”, in 2004, and the odd couple became firm friends. Rollins reveals he’s now a regular at Shatner‘s home for his weekly football parties ? even though he’s not a big fan of the sport. The rocker says, “I’ve been to the Shatner house many times for dinner, for Super Bowl Sunday, for football games. I’m sure this coming September, when the season starts up again, I’ll get the call from his assistant Chris: ‘Mr. Shatner would like to see you at six bells. Can we be expecting you?’ And I head up here.

“He lives up the road from me, a few traffic lights and I go see ‘Monday Night Football’ at his place. I don’t watch football, but I like his friends. I’m a shy person. I don’t really go out of my way to hang out but I like him and his wife… and I like all the food he lays out.

“He’s extraordinarily friendly, a very energized guy. He’s like 74 and he’s just doing stuff. He impresses me in that he’s a guy who’s really figured out what he likes. He loves his life.

“He’s got this big room with a big TV. It’s built for you to be comfortable in. I love being in that room. It’s pretty damn cool.”

A colación de esto, vuelvo a tirar de mi problema soy yo para enlazar a más contenidos interesantes. En esta ocasión se trata de una serie documental bastante interesante, denominada “The Punk Years“.

Tanto en La Tierra de Uel como en el blog de Fernan (entre otros espacios) aparecieron ayer reseñas al siguiente grupo:

En primer lugar, cuando el 90% de los posts que hacen referencia a tu nombre y no a otra característica identificativa (véase, “power metal a capella” para hablar de van Canto) sabes que has acertado con el apelativo.

En segundo lugar, ofrecer el disco completo (letras y portada incluídas) en la sección de descargas de la página web hace mucho más apetecible el echarle un ojo (y una oreja) a lo que tienen que ofrecer.
