Los siempre divertidos Beatallica [wiki] tienen desde hace ya unos días tres nuevos temas en directo disponibles para quien guste bajarlos:

Por desgracia de momento no parece que vayan a hacer parada en España. En todo caso la noticia es que Betallica estará de gira con The Punkles por Europa, tal y como anuncian las respectivas páginas web:

Beatallica.com 7/21/05 It’s official! Beatallica will be touring Europe this October. Dates will be posted next week after all the bookings are finalized. The band will be playing mainly in Germany and Austria with our brothers-in-armbands The Punkles, and possibly other countries as well. Check back for more updates! Si se acercasen por Madrid yo iba de cabeza… y qué bien me lo paso con el Google Maps .

“Beatallica is back!” es lo que reza la página de inicio de Beatallica.org, tal como prometieron, trás el cierre preventivo al se vieron obligados por la falta de sentido común de algún personaje.

Final (esperemos) feliz para una historia “triste”, por la pena que da que haya ocurrido algo así de estúpido. En fin, idiotas los hay en todos los lados, así que paciencia.

Trás todo lo ocurrido las cosas parecen estar arreglándose, en parte gracias al abogado de Lars Ulrich, el señor Peter Paterno. Esta colaboración, promovida por el propio Ulrich, ha sido recogida por muchos como un intento de mejorar la deteriorada imagen pública de Metallica [wiki], y en particular de Lars. En las palabras de Krk Hammetson en el foro oficial de Beatallica:

We are currently in friendly negotiations with Sony, due to the help of Lars Ulrich and Metallica’s lawyer Peter Paterno. We’re unbelieveably fortunate to have them on our side, and things are going very, very well because of it. We hope to reach an amicable conclusion soon. If our talks with Sony continue to go well, we should have the website back up in a few weeks.

Ya les vale. Como recoge la noticia en la sección de música de OnMilwaukee.com, la página web de Beatallica ha sido retirada por su ISP, presionados por Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Como mi opinión al respecto de ésta acción quedó bastante patente en un anterior post, en vez de patalear y protestar airado, voy a dar publicidad a la petición para que cese el acoso a Beatallica, para que se adscriba quien quiera. Como se puede leer en la noticia, Lars Ulrich (batería de Metallica [wiki]) y Mike Portnoy [wiki] (batería de Dream Theater [wiki], Liquid Tension Experiment [wiki], con quien han tocado alguna vez) ya han mostrado su apoyo al grupo.

BEATALLICA, the Internet sensation who combine the work of THE BEATLES with the sound of early METALLICA, have been slapped with a “cease-and-desist” order by THE BEATLES’ music publisher over their “unlwaful use” of the group’s compositions “without authorization or license.”

In the notice of willful copyright infringement, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, copyright owner and music publisher of “compositions written, individually and jointly, by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Richard Starkey” claims that BEATALLICA’s use of THE BEATLES’ compositions “without the express authorization or license has caused and continues to cause substantial and irreparable injury amd is in direct violation of Sony/ATV’s rights.”

When METALLICA frontman James Hetfield was asked last year by Kerrang! magazine if he’s ever heard BEATALLICA, he replied, “Yeah. I heard that. That was amazing. Someone put a lot of thought and talent into that man!” Asked if he was being sarcastic, he said, “No, not at all. I heard it online. It was about a year ago, or more. It was pretty amazing. It was pretty well thought out so I’m glad there’s people like that in the world to do that and it’s very entertaining for us, for sure!”

Me pregunto que abogado/ejecutivo mamarracho ha promovido esta medida. Porque hay que ser estúpido integral para creer que algo como Beatallica puede perjudicar de ninguna manera, ni a la música de los Beatles, ni al negocio generado por la misma. Más bien todo lo contrario. Pero bueno, como dijo el poeta:

Siguiendo con el tema de la música clásica, muchos ya conoceréis Beatallica (sí, damas y caballeros, también hay información en la Wikipedia). Para aquellos que no saben de qué estoy hablando, sólo puedo decir que son los responsables de uno de mis mayores dolores de mandíbula y tripa a causa de la risa que recuerdo. Y musicalmente también están muy bien.
